Pittsburgh!

The last weekend in June, we packed up the kids, the car and the parents and drove to Pittsburgh. We didn't start as early as we wanted, but we managed to make it to Grandma and Grandpa Kane's by 11pm.

Graham fought the good fight against the sleepies...but lost around 9:15pm. When we pulled into Grandma and Grandpa's, he woke up and proceeded to be his charming self - talking and running around in circles until it looked as if he would run head long into the furniture. When he's tired, he watches where he's going even less (if that's possible) than when he's not. Seeing this, we got the boys and ourselves to bed.

Saturday morning, we got up and had a light breakfast before heading out to the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium. We took an escalator up to the zoo and then got on a tram to head up to the Aquarium. The tram ride fascinated Fletcher. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of this because everyone had their hands full. Along the way we saw Bears, Tigers, Giraffes and Elephants! Although, all of that paled in comparison once we got to the Aquarium. FISH! and PENGUINS! and SHARKS! Oh my!!

Graham ran around the Aquarium like a little energizer bunny. When we got to the "pet a stingray" exhibit, he stopped for a few minutes. But then we were off again to see the polar bears and the otters. He really liked walking in the tunnel and having the sharks swim by overhead. Fletcher liked the tunnel too!

We left the Aquarium and walked down to the entrance, stopping to see the tiger cubs and the snow leopard along the way. The cubs were all taking their early afternoon siesta.

Fletcher is still wide awake!!

It was after lunch and we left the zoo and went to the Strip. It was very busy for a Saturday afternoon! Reid and I jumped out and ran in to PennMac for cheese, cannoli, and nuts. Gigi and Great Grandpa hung out in the car with the bambinos.

Then it was back to the house for naptime. Laurel came over that evening for dinner. Graham and Fletcher both woke up on the right side of the pack-n-play and had fun charming their cousin Laurel and Great Grandparents. And there was a to-die-for chocolate cake with birthday candles for me!! (The cake really was to-die-for...just add milk!)

It's a little hard to see but Fletcher is up on all fours here! This was the first time I was able to capture this on camera!!

Sunday, Laurel, Aunt Debbie and Uncle John joined us for an amazing brunch of breakfast casserole (with a horseradish cheese that was just divine). We packed the car in no time flat and left around 12:30 - just in time for naps! We stopped in Dexter to pick up dinner and were home by 5pm. We had a great time visiting with everyone and can't wait to see them again!
