Fletcher Kane McCarthy

I know we haven't posted anything on Fletcher all month so - here he is!

Lindsay's mom drove to MI on January 31st - a 10 hour endeavor. She arrived around 5:30pm, just in time it turns out as we left for the hospital around 7:30pm! Reid's mom came out and stayed with Graham.

Once at the hospital, the midwife determined that Lindsay should walk around for a while before a decision was made whether to admit her or send her home to labor there for a while. Doula Kate arrived around 8pm and we started walking (with several stops by the nursery for inspiration). Labor progressed normally (thankfully!) and they checked us in to labor and delivery at 10:30pm. We requested and got room 11 - the same room where Graham entered the world. We figured there was a lot of good karma attached to the room. The doctor and the nurses were wonderful. Lindsay got to use the jacuzzi tub this time! YAY!

Fletcher arrived at 4:53am (after only 10 minutes of pushing - WOWZA!). Grandma had been awake for...a very long time by this point and we were all surprised she didn't pass out from exhaustion. But she was quite the trooper - even made it all the way back to Lindsay and Reid's house without falling asleep. Lindsay and Fletcher moved into the Mommy-Baby unit and promptly took a nap for an hour before getting up to eat and watch the snow fall.

(sorry, I know the pictures are blurry.)

The snow never amounted to the predictions but it did make the world outside the hospital look very pretty.
